Canyon Mountain Foods was founded in 2005 by mother-daughter team
Carolyn Stout and Angie Johnson, of John Day, Oregon. In its
17+ years of operation, Carolyn's bed and breakfast (www.sonshinebedandbreakfast.com)
generated repeated requests from guests to buy her "blu-barb" sauce
and other unique breakfast items. After years of prompting and
encouragement from guests and friends, Carolyn decided to develop
her recipes into marketable products. She brought her
daughter, Angie Johnson, in as a partner and the two started Canyon
Mountain Foods.
The
partners began marketing their products to retail gift shops in 2006. The company's first three products are
all breakfast items. They are 100% natural and loaded with taste and
texture that make them truly unique. Additional
products under development include Apricot-Tangerine Syrup & Topping and Scrumptious
Scones. The name "Canyon Mountain Foods" comes from the
breathtakingly beautiful mountain that rises above the little town
of John Day where the company is located.
